Developing an Instructional Strategy

BACKWARD DESIGN article:
The process for design:
1. Identify desired results - what will be the end product
2. Determine acceptable evidence -
3. Plan learning experiences and instruction

Ch. 8 Instructional Strategy
What are related concepts to understand:
1. MetaCognition - thinking about your thinking
2. Job/Task Analysis
3. Cognitive Task Analysis - determines the thought process users go through when accomplishing a task, either at the novice or expert level (doesn't matter the level).
4. Critical Decision Method - analyzing the critical decisions, whether good or bad, to be used by a new learner, either an expert or a non-expert
5. Situation Awareness - understanding of things in a specific situation - not always transferable or understandable in other situations
6. Situated Cognition - understanding/learning within a real world context
7. Cognitive Engineering- design and development of human centered systems (Roth)
8. Pedagogy - process of teaching (science of teaching)/strategies of instruction
9. Content Knowledge - knowing the area in which you are teaching
10.Pedagogical Content Knowledge - knowing how to teach the subject matter
11.Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge - knowing how to teach the subject matter through the use of technology
